She is a great lady of French golf who has just been named captain of the European Solheim Cup Junior team scheduled in Spain, at La Zagaleta, from September 18 to 19. Gwladys Nocera, 48, is indeed one of the greatest champions of this sport, victorious fourteen times on the Ladies European Tour (LET) between 2006 and 2015.

No. 1 in the Order of Merit in 2008 after winning five times that year, record holder for the lowest score in the history of the LET (-29 at the 2008 Göteborg Masters), she also represented the Europe in Solheim Cup (2005, 07, 09 and 15).

Since the end of her professional career in April 2018, Gwladys Nocera has taken the lead of the French women's team with which she notably won the 2022 European Championship. "It is a great honor to have been asked to captain the Solheim Cup Junior and it is with great pride that I have agreed to lead the European team," she said.

I will put all my heart into this role in order to make this week unforgettable for the girls. I know from the bottom of my heart what this event brings to players, parents, coaches and all people who love golf. Thank you to the Solheim family for making this event one of the best things that has ever happened to junior golf.

Let's go girls. Let's go! Come on ! » As a reminder, twelve of Europe's brightest female golfers, aged 12-18, will take on Team USA and look to defend their title they won in Ohio in 2021. Team Europe will be made up of the six top players from the PING Junior Solheim Cup rankings who will be automatically selected, while there will also be six captain's picks based on performance at major amateur events and the European Women's Amateur Ranking.

The first competition took place in 1990 and was held every even year until 2002, with changing venues. After the change in the Ryder Cup calendar, the Solheim Cup changed to odd years from 2003 to avoid overlapping dates.

After the Ryder Cup 2020 was held in 2021 due to COVID-19, the competitions of the Solheim Cup will be held in even years again from 2024. The tournament was held alternately in the USA and in Europe. At the moment 17 Solheim Cups have already been played.

The US still holds the record with 10 wins versus Europe with 7 wins. In 2013, the European team celebrated their first win on American soil and also managed to defend their victory for the first time.
