4Aces take team victory at LIV Golf London

Cameron Smith wins the individual title at LIV Golf London and takes home his second win in 14 regular season games since joining the LIV Golf League. The Australian champion wins after closing a first round at -8, followed by -4 and -3.

It is a perfect way to give courage and confidence in view of the defense of the title in two weeks at the Open Championship. Smith and teammate Marc Leishman, who played in the bottom group on Sunday, were the Rippers' team's last hope of catching up with the 4Aces, who fought back from a four-hit deficit early in the day to take the lead at -34.

The Rippers trailed -33 on the final hole. Individually, Smith held a two-hit lead over the 4Aces' Patrick Reed.

Cameron Smith, results

Leishman ended the tournament tied for second individual place with Reed (-14), tying the team classification, while Smith sealed his individual victory, but scored a bogey in the 18th game and the result of the day (-3) it didn't let him lead the Rippers to victory.

The 4Aces seem to have the formula for success in team competition. Sunday's win was their sixth regular-season team title since last season and their second this season following their win in Adelaide. From July 7-9, the LIV Golf League champions will play the ninth of 14 events scheduled for the 2023 season.

The contest will be played at the Centurion Club in Hertfordshire, England. As usual, 48 players will compete on the course divided into 12 teams, over 54 stroke-play holes. The champions will compete for a prize pool of $25,000,000 and the winner of the individual classification will earn $4,000,000, while the members of the winning team will earn $3,000,000.

The LIV Golf League returns to its roots and many of the world's leading players collide again at Centurion Golf Club on the outskirts of the UK capital. The Centurion, located in leafy Hertfordshire to the north-west of the city, presented a major challenge when it hosted the inaugural event of the LIV Golf Invitational Series in 2022.

South African Charl Schwartzel won the individual event with a score of 7 under par, while his compatriot Louis Oosthuizen rode the Stinger GC to victory in the team event. The tournament can be followed free of charge live and on demand via LIV Golf Plus. LIV Golf Plus is available for download on iOS, Android, FireTV and at LIVGolfPlus.com
