Golfweek has managed to obtain the 2024 PGA Tour calendar before an official announcement scheduled for August 8 by the most prestigious professional circuit on the Golf planet. 39 regular season tournaments and 8 others in the playoffs are on the program.
We also learn that only 4 of the 12 designated events will be penalized with a cut after 36 holes.
Pga Tour, calendar
While the PGA Tour must officially announce on August 8, 48 hours before the start of the Fedex Cup playoffs in Memphis (Tennessee), its 2024 calendar, Golfweek is taking a step ahead and unveiling the main outlines of the season.
coming. For the first time since 2013, the 2024 financial year will be spread over a calendar year and no longer over two years, as was the case since the 2013-14 season. 39 regular season tournaments are on the schedule as well as 8 others for the fall playoff series, during which some players will aim to secure their right to play for 2025.
Of the 12 designated events (formerly titled Elevated Events, $20 million in prize money and fields limited to a maximum of 80 players), only 4 will be sanctioned by a cut after 36 holes. These are the PLAYERS Championship, the Genesis Invitational, the Memorial Tournament and the Arnold Palmer Invitational.
Note that the PLAYERS Championship will display a "normal" field of 142 players. Also according to Golfweek, the merger announced on June 6 between the PGA Tour and the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia should not impact the schedule of the PGA Tour 2024.
Given the Olympic Games in Paris, the Wyndham Championship , the last meeting of the regular season, is postponed for a week (August 8-11). The FedEx Cup playoffs will therefore begin on August 15 (FedEx St. Jude Championship).
The fall series tournaments will start on September 11 with the Fortinet Championship. On the other hand, no information has filtered regarding the game category reserved for the ten non-exempted players coming from the DP World Tour (at the end of the Race to Dubai 2023), nor if they will have the possibility of take part (or not) in designated events… The 2024 PGA Tour schedule January 4-7: The Sentry Tournament
