Viktor Hovland outlasted Xander Schauffele on Sunday's final round to win the US PGA Tour's season-ending Tour Championship. Judging by his statements, Xander Schauffele was not particularly disappointed. He emphasized that this was 'the most fun defeat for him'
The American had only words of praise for the 25-year-old Norwegian who had shown his quality from the first day. It was not easy to match such an opponent. ”Yeah, I'll hold my head up high. It was the most fun I had losing in quite some time.
It's such a weird feeling. I shot 62. I lost by five. Just kudos to Havi. He played unbelievably well the last few weeks to get himself into this position and to really just put a cherry on top for himself and his team."- Schauffele said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com!
Xander Schauffele and his plans
Schauffele revealed what his future plans are. First, he wants to take a break and work hard to be the best version of himself at the Ryder Cup. The Ryder Cup carries a lot of prestige and importance for him.
It's not long until the great competition that will be held in Rome this year gets underway. A high level of expectation is placed on Xander by the US team. "It's five weeks away, so I'm going to take some time off and I'm going to have to rebuild that confidence come Italy and the Ryder Cup.
But, yeah, I think it's definitely - I think we're working on - my team and I, we're working on the right stuff to get these results. Kind of playing sort of whatever coming into the playoffs to sort of peak and play really well at the right time is important, and so I think we're working on the right things”.
