Virginia Elena Carta, Alessandra Fanali and Clara Manzalini will be on the field in the KPMG Women's Irish Open, the Ladies European Tour tournament which takes place from 31 August to 3 September on the Dromoland Castle Golf Club course in Newmarket-on-Fergus, in the county of Clare in Ireland.

Stars of the event the Irish Leona Maguire, big favorite, and the Swedish Caroline Hedwall, who has fewer chances to get on the top step of the podium, who will be part of Team Europe at the next Solheim Cup (Finca Cortesin, Casares, Spain , September 22-24).

In the field five seasonal winners, with good chances of replication, the Indian Diksha Dagar, the Czech Kristyna Napoleaova, the Swedish Lisa Pettersson, the German Patricia Isabel Schmidt and the English Lily May Humphreys, in a batch of qualified competitors including the Czech Klara Davidson Spilkova, who defends the title, the English Meghan MacLaren and Liz Young, the Slovenian Pia Babnik, the South Africans Nicole Garcia and Casandra Alexander and the Austrian Christine Wolf, to name a few.

For the three blues it is an opportunity to rediscover the good rhythm with which they started the year. Virginia Elena Carta is back from three cuts suffered consecutively, but we must not speak of a negative balance because there have previously been three top ten and some good placings.

Alessandra Fanali, rookie on the tour, offered an excellent start with three top tens in five events, before a decline and Clara Manzalini, also among the rookies, stood out with a fifth place in the context of an ups and downs.

The prize pool is 400,000 euros. The Ladies European Tour (LET for short) is an annual series of golf tournaments for professional female golfers. It is mainly held in Europe, but also in Australia, South Africa and Dubai. The tournament series was introduced in 1979 and since then has had great difficulty establishing itself alongside the very popular American women's tournament series, the LPGA Tour.

In 2011, the LET held 27 tournaments (including one in Germany) with a total prize money of around 11 million euros. The two most important tournaments by far, the Masters in France and the Women's British Open in England, were held together with the American LPGA.
