While waiting to understand what developments the framework agreement between Liv Golf, the Pga Tour and the DP World Tour will take, the Arab Super League would have its eyes on the number 1 in the world on the green: Scottie Scheffler.

The American, amid the disappointments of the 2023 Ryder Cup in Rome, would be Liv's big transfer target. In recent months Scheffler has not hidden his concern about "the lack of clarity of the PGA Tour" and has not yet joined the new technological league of Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy.

Details that highlight the uncertainties of the 27-year-old from Ridgewood who would have received a pharaonic offer from the Arab Super League. LIV Golf is a professional golf tour. It was founded in 2022 with the support of the Public Investment Fund, Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund.

The golf tour competes with the PGA Tour (USA) and the DP World Tour (Europe) and offers significantly higher prize money. The name LIV refers to the total number of holes to be played at each tournament (54 in Roman numerals, equivalent to 3 rounds of 18 holes), as opposed to the usual 72 holes (4 rounds of 18 holes) on other tours .

Alternatively, 54 is the score achieved by making birdie on every hole on a par-72 course. The advent of the 2022 LIV Tour was met with criticism from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour, and players who enrolled on the LIV Tour were banned from the PGA Tour and DP World Tour.

In early June 2023, the conflict over prize money and playing rights was seemingly resolved when a merger of the LIV Tour with the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour was announced. In March 2022, LIV Golf CEO, former professional golfer and former world number one Greg Norman, announced the schedule for the first season of the “LIV Golf Invitational Series”.

This consists of eight tournaments that are played over 54 golf holes without a cut. Each tournament consisted of a field of 48 players who were sorted into 12 teams of four players each. The total prize money was $255 million.
