Sun, at least 25° all year round, numerous golf courses and all this less than 3000 kilometers from Paris while remaining in Europe, it is possible in Tenerife. Located in the Canaries, the Spanish island and its little sister La Gomera form a paradise for golfers all year round.
The golf and hotel offerings are varied and suitable for everyone.
Tenerife, golf
The southern part of the island, with a million inhabitants, is the nerve center of tourism. Accessible directly from Tenerife South Airport (TFS), it provides access to everything tourists need, including several golf courses.
Located in the heart of Playa de las Américas and near Los Cristianos where the most beautiful beaches of the island are located, Golf Las Américas stands out for its accessibility, not only geographically, but also golf-wise.
This par 72, sheltered from the wind, has a wide variety of holes, from small to long par 4s, from easy par 3s to those protected by water. Overall, the course created in 1998 and designed by John Jacobs is made up of rather wide, tree-lined fairways and several water hazards.
These add a little spice to this layout without making it too complex. Some holes will not be taken lightly, like the par 3 of 5, and the long par 4 of 6. You will also have to play the doglegs which mark out this pleasant 18 holes intelligently.
If the best indexes will not find it the biggest challenge of their career and will certainly not return three times in the same week, Golf Las Américas allows as many people as possible to have fun without taking too much hassle.
Well prepared and surrounded by beautiful flowers, it will also be ideal for a relaxing party with friends. With its beautiful training areas, it also adapts well to groups with their teacher. About ten minutes away, leaving the city center, a European circuit course is located at the water's edge.
Indeed, Golf Costa Adeje hosted the Tenerife Open and the Canary Islands Championship in 2021. Dean Burmester (-25) and Garrick Higgo (-27) each took turns destroying this par 72. Built on old fields banana trees, Pepe Gancedo has perfectly integrated into his layout the terraces necessary for these plantations, giving it a lot of character with the original wall stones and the black earth which separates the holes.
Here again, the fairways and greens are quite wide, but the course still remains technical, especially around the greens. With so many par 3s, par 4s and par 5s, Golf Costa Adeje requires you to use almost all the clubs in the bag.
Overall, the golfer will be amazed by this accessible Tour route since the landscapes are majestic. The seaside holes in the middle of the outward leg provide unforgettable views, as do those over the island's volcano, Teide.
Note that there is also a 9-hole course (par 33) open to all levels. For accommodation, the Hotel Suite Villa Maria (5*) surrounded by the two courses is made up of 78 Canarian-style villas, and offers the perfect conditions for a successful golf vacation.
Each accommodation provides space and high-end comfort. With its spa, its good atmosphere, its swimming pools and its two good restaurants, the golfer will certainly have a successful stay there.
