The inaugural edition of the Dubai Invitational will take place on the Dubai Creek Resort course

The inaugural edition of the Dubai Invitational will take place on the Dubai Creek Resort course. It is a 72-hole Strokeplay tournament which is played in parallel with a three-day team Pro-Am (alliance), with Sunday reserved for professionals.

Winner 5 times in Dubai, the Northern Irishman Rory McIlroy plans to spend several weeks in the emirate since he will be found the following week at the start of the Hero Dubai Desert Classic, the first Rolex Series of the season where he will defend his title on the Majlis layout of the Emirates Golf Club (photo).

Currently leading the Race to Dubai before the DP World Tour Championship, the 34-year-old will first try to add a fifth Harry Vardon Trophy to his list in 15 days and why not by winning a third time on the Jumeirah Earth route.

“I’m really excited to start my year at the Dubai Invitational,” McIlroy said. “I have always loved coming back to Dubai to prepare for my season and with this pro-am format, I am convinced that I will have a fun week, especially as Dubai Creek Resort is a fantastic course”.

This Dubai Invitational is the first International Swing tournament (Middle East – Africa Swing) of the new 2024 calendar of the DP World Tour. 60 professional golfers from the DP World Tour and 60 amateur golfers are expected at the start.

Rory McIlroy (Holywood, Northern Ireland, May 4, 1989) is a Northern Irish professional golfer. He has been ranked No. 1 in the world for 95 weeks and has been in the top ten for over 300 weeks. This golfer has achieved many victories in major tournaments: the 2011 US Open, the 2014 British Open and the 2012 and 2014 PGA Championship.
