Azahara Muñoz, hailing from Malaga, displayed impressive performance in the golf tournament The Annika on the LPGA circuit, held between Thursday and Sunday at the Pelican Golf Club in Belleair, Florida, USA. Despite being a strong contender for the victory, she finished in second place, tied with American Alison Lee at 16 under par, three strokes behind the champion, fellow American Lilia Vu.

Muñoz played four rounds of 64, 69, 64, and 67, entering the last day trailing by four strokes behind then-leader Emily Kristine Pedersen from Denmark, who finished in fifth place, and ultimately finishing two strokes behind Vu, the victorious athlete who ranked second worldwide and achieved her fourth LPGA circuit title in 2023.

This is the fifth time Azahara Muñoz has earned the runner-up title in an LPGA Tour tournament, having done so in 2013, 2014, 2018, and 2019, and claiming a championship title at the Sybase Match Play Championship in 2012.

Carlota Ciganda, from Navarra, finished in 51st place with a score of -3 overall. The Annika was the penultimate tournament of the LPGA Tour, which will culminate with the final event, the CME Group Tour Championship. Belleair is a town located in Pinellas County in the US state of Florida.

Of the total population, 3.26% were Hispanic or Latino of any race.5
