Even after crowning the Race to Dubai winner, the competition at Jumeirah Golf Estates heats up. The top ten DP World Players without a PGA Tour card could earn their American playing rights for 2024. Controversy surrounds this move, with critics arguing it may drain the former European Tour of its brightest stars, likely lured to the US for higher prize money in the new year.

Rory McIlroy holds a different perspective on this matter. He reflected on his early career journey, citing his own experiences.
"I got into the top 50 in the world at the end of 2008, and in 2009, I was going to start in the Middle East and then I was going to the States and play the Match Play, the Honda, the whatever else.

It's always been there. It's just a bit more official," -Rory McIlroy said.

Rory McIlroy and the PGA Tour

McIlroy emphasizes that the PGA Tour is the ideal location to develop in the right direction. The PGA Tour will provide you with great things, progress, and the opportunity to play with the best.

Being part of this circuit, according to McIlroy, isn't just about playing—it's about evolving, learning, and ultimately becoming a better golfer. "The reason that The European Tour started with as to give professional golfers opportunities to play golf tournaments and earn a living.

So if you look at what the mission statement is for the DP World Tour, it's to give professional golfers opportunities to play their sport, make a living, and there's no better place to have opportunity and to make a living than what's going on on the PGA Tour." McIlroy believes that playing on the European Tour allows you to become a great golfer, and is a great prelude to what's to come.

"So I don't see that side of the argument at all. For golfers playing on The European Tour, I think it's an amazing thing that's happened and it formalizes a pathway to get to the very top level of professional golf." Source: Golfmonthly
