Rory McIlroy surprised many by confirming that he has problems with a wrist injury. He felt this the most during the DP World Tour Championship. McIlroy was absolutely thrilled about winning the Ryder Cup and emphasized how fulfilling it was for the European team to achieve their goals.
However, after that, he did not put much effort into training. "I haven't done much at all after the Ryder Cup. You know, tried to put in a little bit of practise over the last couple of weeks. But I sort of jammed my wrist, as well, a couple weeks ago and that sort of limited how many balls I hit, too.
Yeah, just sort of came in not as prepared as I could have been or should have been, but feel like I'm starting to find my feet a little bit after a few days."- Rory McIlroy said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com!
Matt Fitzpatrick and Rory McIlroy: Great performance
Teamed up once again on Saturday, Matt Fitzpatrick and McIlroy, who had previously played together during Friday and Saturday afternoons at the Ryder Cup, delivered great third-round performances in Dubai.
The duo impressed everyone with their skills, with McIlroy carding a 65 and Fitzpatrick securing a 67. McIlroy showed calmness, focus, and his quality. It was clear that he could make a good result. "Yeah. Fitz and I sort of had it going on the back nine there, we both shot 5-under, which for me is a nice turnaround from how I played the back nine the first two days.
It was a good score. For me, I felt like it was similar enough the last couple days but I just didn't make any mistakes, and then it was obviously really nice to finish the way I did with the birdie on 17. "-McIlroy said. A lot is expected from Rory in the coming period. We will see if Rory lives up to expectations.
