Tiger Woods looked fit during the first nine holes of the Hero World Challenge in the Bahamas, but slowed down in the final round due to fatigue. Despite this, the Californian champion managed to close the second round in 15th place, with a score of 145 shots.

During his round, Woods showed flashes of his usual skill, with five birdies (four of them in the first part of the match) and three bogeys (all in the final part, on holes 13, 15 and 16).

The event, organized by his foundation, unofficial of the PGA Tour, currently has the Americans Scottie Scheffler and Jordan Spieth in the lead, with a total of 135 strokes and nine under par.

Brian Harman follows, with 136 hits (-8), and Justin Thomas, with 137 hits (-7). Viktor Hovland, who won the event in the 2021 and 2022 editions, seems to have no chance of winning for the third consecutive time, finding himself in 16th place with 146 strokes (+2) behind Woods, who boasts the record of victories in the event, with five victories.

The next phases of the Hero World Challenge will be decisive in deciding the winner of this important competition. Woods is the son of Kultida Woods, a native of Thailand, and Earl Woods, a lieutenant colonel in the United States Army.

Woods has two half-brothers and a half-sister from Earl Woods' 18-year marriage to Barbara Woods Gary. He was born in Cypress, California and grew up a little further north on the US West Coast in the Los Angeles area. His father gave him the nickname “Tiger” when he was born in honor of his friend Vuong Dang Phong, who fought with him in the Vietnam War.

Woods attended Western High School in Anaheim and studied economics at Stanford University for two years before becoming a professional golfer. In 1996, together with his father, he founded the Tiger Woods Foundation, which promotes and supports children and young people in the USA.

From October 2004 to August 2010, Tiger Woods was married to former Swedish model Elin Nordegren. The couple has a daughter (* 2007) and a son (* 2009). Since the divorce on August 23, 2010, custody of the children has rested with both parents.

In mid-March 2013, Woods announced on his Facebook account that he was in a relationship with alpine skier Lindsey Vonn. On May 3, 2015, Vonn announced on her Facebook page that she and Woods had separated.
