Italy shines on the DP World Tour of golf with a high-level performance. In Johannesburg, Renato Paratore is one step away from triumph, finishing in second place with a score of 280 (69 71 70 70, -8) shots at the South African Open.

But the Azzurri present in the Top 10 are no exception: Matteo Manassero in fifth place, with 281 (68 68 73 72, -7), and Francesco Laporta in tenth place with 282 (69 71 69 73, -6). Andrea Pavan ranks 17th with a score of 284 (70 71 74 69, -4).

The DP World Tour sees an encore of consecutive successes for Dean Burmester, who also won the 113th edition of the South African Open with a total score of 277 (70 74 65 68, -11). The only exception to finish the competition in double figures, the 34-year-old South African stands out as one of the most experienced players on the pitch.

With a history on the PGA Tour and eight victories on the Sunshine Tour, Burmester earned his fourth victory on the DP World Tour.

Paratore made a remarkable comeback in the final round of the tournament, climbing the rankings by eight positions and finishing with a score of 70 (-2).

Despite a double bogey on the fifth hole, the Roman player made five birdies and a bogey, managing to lead Manassero by just one shot. The Venetian also gave a good performance, starting with a birdie but running into a double bogey on the third hole.

However, an eagle at the fifth put him momentarily at the top of the leaderboard, before he suffered two more bogeys in the second half of play. Laporta, also promoted like Manassero and Pavan from the Challenge to the DP World Tour, kept pace with the best by making two birdies with three bogeys.

While Pavan showed great determination, making a comeback of 24 places culminating with a "-3" bogey free and three birdies. On the other hand, for Filippo Celli the test was difficult, considering that he only arrived in 70th place with a score of 299 (+11).

Despite everything, the Azzurri have demonstrated since the second tournament of the DP World Tour 2024 that they want to confirm themselves as protagonists of a season of great depth.
