John Daly has always been a great supporter of LIV Golf. He expressed his desire to join the League early on, even publicly begging Greg Norman to join and praising Saudi Arabia's crown prince, Mohammed bin Salman. The lack of cut, the innovative game format and, above all, the generous prize pools are all reasons that make Daly want to participate in the LIV.

The recent signing of Jon Rahm with the Norman-led league provided Daly with the opportunity to return to the topic. In an interview with Tucker Carlson, the two-time Major winner was as always very direct in his answers. After reiterating his appreciation for the Saudi League, Daly argued that there is no difference between what LIV players do and what happened 30 years ago, when he himself received huge sums (for the time) to participate at the European Tour.

John Daly, statements

“I believe golf is a growing game,” concluded Daly, once again demonstrating his passion for the sport and his desire for innovation. I have no intention of hiding it... I have received considerable compensation for participating in tournaments in Europe.

What would be the difference, then, with LIV? Judging by the fun the circuit offers, I don't see any significant disparity. I can only appreciate the entertainment that LIV offers to its audience, and I would be perfectly at ease participating in its races.

LIV is not just golf: there are concerts, a relaxed atmosphere and the possibility of playing in comfortable clothing such as Bermuda shorts. And then there is the possibility for Pro-Am participants to use their cart, experiencing a sensation similar to that of the races on the now famous Champions Tour.

It is clear that, given the circumstances, I see it from the perspective of a professional nearing the end of his career. John Patrick Daly is an American golfer. He is best known for his victory at the 1991 PGA Championship when he was practically unknown and for the power of his shots, which reach such a distance that they earned him the nickname Long John.
