Lee Trevino is a well-known name in the golf scene, especially for those older fans of this sport. His charisma, passion and love for golf could be seen from the early days of his career. It is incredible with how much passion Trevino follows golf matches, and his opinions about individuals are really interesting. Although he is 84 years old, he is still a guest of various shows and podcasts, where he uses the opportunity to share his opinion regarding current events in the golf scene. During his appearance on Subpar, Trevino discussed an intriguing incident involving Collin Morikawa. Morikawa had been fined recently for breaking Model Local Rule G-11, which limits the use of green-reading materials. Trevino does not understand the existence of such rules.

“Collin got a penalty. Now you see how goofy all this stuff is? And see these guys are in this room making rules and stuff. It is crazy! It’s crazy!"- he said, as quoted by golf.com!

Lee Trevino on golf rules

Lee Trevino doesn't get why there are these rules. He thinks they don't make sense when you look at everything.

“Now, Collin is playing, his caddie is the one that had a card to tell him where the errors were on the green. What the hell difference does it make? The yardages are on the sprinkler, you can use a rangefinder, you can use the book in the fairway, and you can’t use one on the green? That doesn’t make any sense to me. None whatsoever!”

As a man who has been in the golf world for years, he is frustrated by such rules. However, this will not change the fact that Morikawa was fined, and that the rules apply to everyone.

“You can memorize it, but you can’t write it down? Now, that had to be a genius that thought that one up.”
