"I was too critical of those who were the first to leave the PGA Tour and the DP World Tour by choosing LIV Golf. I made a small mistake because now I realize that not everyone is lucky enough to be in my situation or that of Tiger Woods".

Thus Rory McIlroy, number 2 in world golf and always the first opponent of the Arab Super League, expressed his regret for having harshly attacked those fellow players who chose to join the separatist green league.

Rory McIlroy, statements

"We need to accept reality and today LIV is part of this sporting world.

Therefore, if I have to regret something, I do it for having been too critical. However, it bothered me to hear from so many players who grew up on the PGA Tour or on the DP World Tour, speaking badly of these circuits that have given us so much.

I don't envy anyone for accepting pharaonic offers, but we shouldn't forget our origins. Rahm moved to LIV Golf through a really smart business move and did so opportunistically, during inter-circuit peace negotiations. I would like LIV to become what, for example, the Indian Premier League of cricket is today, a league that engages you for two months a year", the Northern Irishman's hope.

Rory McIlroy, born May 4, 1989 in Holywood (Northern Ireland), is a Northern Irish professional golfer. Young, he quickly stood out for his talents in golf, first as an amateur where he won the Junior Ryder Cup in 2004, played in the Walker Cup in 2007, represented Ireland at the Eisenhower Trophy in 2006 and won five tournaments including the European Amateur Championship in 2006 (as well as the European Amateur Team Championship in 2007), he turned professional in September 2007 at the age of 18.

He won his first victory on the European PGA Tour at the Dubai Desert Classic in February 2009 then his first victory on the American circuit the following year at the Quail Hollow Championship. After two third places in major tournaments, in 2009 at the PGA Championship and in 2010 at the Masters, he won his first grand slam title during the 2011 edition of the American Open.
