The first tournament of 2024 goes to Chris Kirk. In Hawaii, he surprisingly won The Sentry, a PGA Tour tournament with 20,000,000 dollars at stake, of which 3,600,000 went to the American. In Kapalua, on the island of Maui, with a total of 263 (67 65 66 65, -29) he surpassed his compatriot Sahith Theegala by one shot, 2nd with 264 (-28) ahead of another American, Jordan Spieth, 3rd with 265 (-27).

While Scottie Scheffler, world number 1 and leading at half the race, closed the competition in 5th place with 267 (-25), also behind the South Korean Byeong Hun An, 4th with 266 (-26).

For Kirk, a 38-year-old from Knoxville (Tennessee), it is the sixth career success on the PGA Tour, the first since last February when he celebrated his return to success on the circuit (thanks to the feat in the Honda Classic) eight years after the last time.

After a long ordeal, which saw him overcome alcohol and depression, Kirk is back to winning and smiling. "For a long time I lost the joy of living, but finally it's back. It was difficult, but now I'm in love with life again", the words of the American.

The Hawaiian Islands are a federal state of the United States of America (the 50th and last state, in chronological order of establishment; acronym = HI), is a volcanic archipelago located in the Pacific Ocean consisting of eight main islands and many smaller islands, rocks and shoals.

The major islands are, from northwest to southeast, Niihau, Kauai, Oahu, Molokai, Lanai, Kahoolawe, Maui and the island of Hawaii. The latter is the largest and is often called "The Big Island" to avoid confusion with the state of the same name.

Politically, therefore, the archipelago is included in the State of Hawaii, part of the United States of America since 21 August 1959, and has Honolulu as its capital, located on the island of Oahu. The state's coastline, approximately 1,210 km (750 miles) long, is the fourth longest in the USA after those of Alaska, Florida and California.[4] The state of Hawaii is the 50th state of the United States of America and has jurisdiction over all the islands of the archipelago with the exception of Midway Atoll, which is under direct federal control.

Hawaii is the 43rd largest state by area, the 40th largest by population, but the 13th most densely populated of the 50 states of the United States of America. Like Alaska, it is not part of the so-called contiguous United States (it is almost 4,000 km from the American coast: the closest point is California).
