Rory McIlroy is a golfer with interesting visions regarding the future of golf. The Northern Irishman is someone who has great ideas, but often opposes certain phenomena in the world of golf. Still, McIlroy wants things to look like they used to. Speaking to the media, Rory reflected on the Dubai Invitational and discussed the World Tour idea.

“I think informally, we sort of have most of that global schedule, anyway. If you look at what all the tournaments that all the top players play, informally, sort of without any structure without it between a few different tours, I think we have at least the majority of what a global tour would look like."- Rory McIlroy said, as quoted by golfmonthly.com

After LIV Golf emerged, Rory was one of the main ambassadors of the PGA Tour and one of the biggest critics of LIV Golf. The Northern Irishman was frustrated with LIV Golf and its philosophy. Especially frustrating was the fact that Saudi money came into the sport and lured many golfers away. However, McIlroy's statements from a few days ago showed that the Northern Irishman is slowly changing his mind regarding the appearance of LIV Golf. The agreement between the PGA Tour and PIF has not yet been finalized. Rory hopes to finally reach an agreement in the near future. McIlroy does not want the focus to be on the Tour, but primarily on golf and how to improve it.

“I think if we really want to, if everyone is talking about growing the game and trying to, especially if these investors are going to come into our game and they want a return on their capital, I think everyone needs to start thinking more globally around it but globally in a holistic way but not really like this tour, that tour and another tour."- Rory continued.

McIlroy highlighted the importance of both officials and players adapting to changes, particularly in terms of commitment to events. He pointed out that media companies invest a lot in sporting events and, to guarantee the expected quality, suggested that players should sign contracts committing to a specific number of events each year.  McIlroy is always ready to criticize golfers as well as their moves. He is aware that without the media and investors, golf would not be able to progress or be what it is at the moment. Golfers must show respect to investors and the media.

This way, sponsors and media partners can be assured that the players they expect to see will participate. This has always been one of the important problems on the golf scene, which was often not given an accent.

Rory McIlroy on sponsors and media partners

McIlroy emphasized the need to ensure sponsors and media partners get what they pay for, considering the significant funds involved. He mentioned the possibility of sponsors pulling out if the financial demands aren't met, potentially leading to a decrease in prize money.

More and more sponsors are interested in investing in golf, especially after the appearance of LIV Golf. Although many thought that LIV Golf would disturb the peace on the golf scene and spoil everything that was built years ago, it seems that its appearance has caused more interest in this sport. A large number of investors are carefully monitoring the situation and plan to invest huge amounts of money. That would certainly be a big plus for all parties; On the one hand, golfers and Tour players who would earn huge money, and on the other hand, for investors who would gain a lot by appearing in the world of golf.

McIlroy suggested that players could choose to remain independent contractors, but he pointed out the consequences, such as sponsors withdrawing support. He stressed the importance of finding a fair balance in financial arrangements to secure the sport's growth. Balance is the most important thing in everything!

It is also difficult to expect that some of the sponsors invest more money than expected. Certainly, the standard has risen with the appearance of LIV Golf, and individuals want to play for more money. LIV Golf leaders have raised the bar and made a great revolution in this sport. We will see what the future holds and whether a final agreement will be reached between PIF and the PGA Tour.

Rory McIlroy is certainly one of the key figures on the golf scene, and his warning messages and predictions can be a lesson for golfers. The Northern Irishman is optimistic that things will get better, and that we will see the best golfers in one place. It is necessary to wait and see if his predictions will come true.
