The possibility of Anthony Kim's return had already been raised in April 2022, when the LIV Golf Tour, financially supported by the Public Investment Fund (PIF) of Saudi Arabia, was about to see the light of day.

Anthony Kim made his mark by becoming a hero of the 2008 Ryder Cup at Valhalla, contributing to the victory of the United States against Europe. However, in 2012, he underwent surgery on his Achilles tendon which forced him to take a break of more than twelve months.

His long-awaited return never happened, in part due to an eight-figure insurance deal in case a serious injury forced him to end his career. Despite his early retirement, Anthony Kim won three times on the PGA Tour and holds the record for most birdies in a round at Augusta (11).

However, he has remained very private about his life after golf, saying that his participation in the sport had become almost non-existent. In January 2023, increasingly persistent rumors raised the possibility of a return to the highest level for Anthony Kim.

If this comes to fruition, he could benefit from former winner status on the PGA Tour. It is also possible that he joins the LIV Golf Tour led by Greg Norman, perhaps not in 2024 (unless he receives a few invitations), but more likely in 2025, as suggested by Max Homa on his X account .

In June 2012, Anthony Kim underwent surgery after suffering an Achilles tendon injury in his left leg, which was expected to sideline him for 9 to 12 months. Although he was eligible for the 2013 season through a Major Medical Exemption, he did not compete in any tournaments during that time.

By April 2014, Golf Channel had reported that Kim had essentially retired from golf, not even playing the sport recreationally. In 2016, he participated in a few charity events but stated that he was not prepared to return to professional golf.

Kim cited the need for ongoing physical therapy and numerous surgeries as factors contributing to the delay in his comeback. In April 2019, during an encounter with a fan in West Hollywood, California, Kim described his golf game as "non-existent." However, on January 1, 2021, his longtime coach, Adam Schriber, posted a photo of them together with the caption "2021 is going to be special." Fast forward to January 2024, Golf.com reported that Anthony Kim is currently in discussions regarding a potential comeback to professional golf, with talks involving both the PGA Tour and LIV Golf. This news has sparked speculation about his return to the competitive golfing world.
