In the first round of the Mexican Mayakoba tournament at LIV Golf, Chilean Joaquín Niemann, who leads the Torque team, demonstrated his skill by recording an impressive 59 strokes. Meanwhile, Spaniards Sergio García, leading the Fireballs, and Jon Rahm, representing Legion XIII, also had an outstanding performance by finishing among the top four.

This first round marked the beginning of the third season of the circuit promoted by the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia. Joaquín Niemann, only 25 years old, shone with a day that included 10 birdies and an eagle, which allowed him to lead the classification.

In second position was the American Patrick Reed, who finished with a total of 64 hits, thanks to seven birdies in his performance. Sergio García, for his part, delivered a card of 65 strokes, recording eight birdies and a pair of bogeys on his way to third place in the standings.

Jon Rahm, the Augusta Masters champion, had a controversial debut at LIV Golf, but still managed to secure fourth position with 66 strokes, tied with the Englishmen Laurie Canter and Richard Bland in fourth place. After Joaquín Niemann, the three best Hispanic representatives were the Colombian Santiago Muñoz, who was in ninth position with 68 strokes, followed by the Mexican Abraham Ancer and the Spanish David Puig, who shared box 32 with a total of 72 strokes.

. Jon Rahm Rodríguez, born on November 10, 1994 in Barrica, Vizcaya, is an outstanding Spanish professional golfer and is currently ranked third in the world. His career in golf is impressive. For sixty weeks, he held first place in the World Amateur Golf Ranking, establishing an all-time record as number one in that ranking.

Rahm began his career as a professional in 2016, the year in which he participated in the US Open. Five years later, on June 20, 2021, he made history by becoming the first Spanish golfer to win this prestigious tournament.

In 2017, Rahm achieved major victories, including the San Diego Open, Irish Open and Dubai World Championships. On July 19, 2020, he won the Memorial Tournament in Ohio and reached the number one spot in the PGA World Golf Rankings, unseating Rory McIlroy.

With this achievement, he became the twenty-fourth number one in the history of golf, the tenth European and the second Spaniard after Severiano Ballesteros. In 2023, Jon Rahm continued to add success to his career by becoming champion of the Augusta Masters, becoming the fourth Spaniard to achieve this prestigious title, following in the footsteps of Severiano Ballesteros, José María Olazábal and Sergio García.

Additionally, he contributed to Europe's victory in the Ryder Cup twice, in 2018 and again in 2023, cementing his status as one of the world's leading golfers.
