On June 12, 2024, just one day before the start of the US Open, Tiger Woods will be honored with the "Bob Jones Award" in North Carolina, the highest accolade bestowed by the United States Golf Association (USGA). The award recognizes more than just performance; it acknowledges the lasting impact of a champion who has forever changed the image and growth of the sport.

Mike Whan, CEO of the USGA, remarked, "The influence he has had on this game and on future generations is truly remarkable."

Expressing gratitude for the recognition, Tiger Woods stated, "I am honored to receive the Bob Jones Award.

Thank you to the USGA for this significant acknowledgment." Established in 1955 in honor of Bobby Jones, a golf and sportsmanship icon, over the years, the award has been received by other golf legends such as Gary Player (1966), Arnold Palmer (1971), Jack Nicklaus (1975), and Ben Hogan (1976).

Eldrick Tont Woods, better known as Tiger Woods (born December 30, 1975, in Cypress), is an American golfer. Considered by many to be the greatest golfer of all time, as well as the best of the modern era, Woods has amassed an illustrious career spanning over two decades.

He has won 110 professional tournaments, including 15 major championships, making him the most decorated player in history. Woods held the top spot in the Official World Golf Ranking (OWGR) for a total of 683 weeks, including a remarkable streak of 281 consecutive weeks from June 12, 2005, to October 30, 2010.

He is also the only golfer to have won all four major tournaments of the modern era within a single year, achieving this feat between 2000 and 2001. In 2014, Woods became the first athlete in the world to surpass one billion dollars in earnings from victories and sponsorships.

Although subsequently surpassed by Michael Jordan, his net worth is estimated at $1.8 billion as of 2023, making him the second-highest-paid athlete of all time. In 2019, United States President Donald Trump awarded him the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the highest civilian honor in the United States.
