Among the figures from the world of sports, music, and entertainment who have personally invested in the PGA Tour, there are also LeBron James, a star of American basketball who distinguished himself as the first NBA player to reach 40,000 career points during the regular season, and Canadian singer and rapper Drake.

This was reported by The New York Times.

On January 31st, the Strategic Sports Group, led by the Fenway Sports Group, announced investments of up to three billion dollars in the PGA Tour, a significant agreement aimed at countering the economic advancement in golf also posed by the Arabian Super League, the LIV, funded by Saudi Arabia's sovereign wealth fund, the PIF.

"What hasn't been said," writes The New York Times, "is that several significant figures from the worlds of sports and music have personally invested in the top basketball circuit." Two names will likely draw attention: LeBron James and rapper Drake.

These investors not only bring money but also believe they can contribute to revitalizing the sport by increasing the value of media rights. James and Drake are committing additional capital as "strategic investors," and it is expected that they will leverage their marketing power to help the PGA Tour expand its audience.

LeBron James and PGA Tour commissioner Jay Monahan recently visited Tom Werner's home to discuss precisely this. LeBron Raymone James Sr. was born on December 30, 1984, in Akron, Ohio. He is an American basketball player renowned for his professional career in the NBA, notably with the Los Angeles Lakers.

Known by the initials LBJ and various nicknames such as "The Kid from Akron," "King James," and "The Chosen One," he is widely regarded as one of the greatest basketball players of all time. His achievements in the NBA are unparalleled.

LeBron holds numerous records, including being the all-time leading scorer in NBA history during the regular season. Additionally, he ranks first in total shot attempts, second in total shots scored, second in total minutes played, fourth in total assists, fifth in triple-doubles, fourth in total games won, sixth in total games played, eighth in 3-pointers made, and eighth in total steals.

LeBron is also celebrated for his unique statistical accomplishments. He is the first NBA player to surpass 40,000 points, 10,000 rebounds, and 10,000 total assists. Furthermore, he joins Kevin Garnett and Karl Malone as one of three players to rank in the top 100 NBA players across major statistical categories such as points, rebounds, assists, steals, and blocks.

His career has been marked by exceptional consistency and versatility. LeBron is the only player in NBA history to achieve over 7,000 points in the regular season with three different teams: the Cleveland Cavaliers, the Miami Heat, and the Los Angeles Lakers.

He boasts an unprecedented streak of averaging at least 25 points per game for 19 consecutive seasons. LeBron's accolades extend beyond individual statistics. He holds the record for the most All-NBA Teams with 19 selections and the most consecutive All-NBA Teams with 19 appearances.

Additionally, he has been named to the All-NBA First Team 13 times, sharing the distinction with Karl Malone of being named to the First Team 11 consecutive times. Moreover, LeBron's impact is evident in his 20 consecutive NBA All-Star Game appearances, a feat achieved by only four players in league history.

He is among the select few to win at least one regular season MVP award with two different teams, a group that includes Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wilt Chamberlain, and Moses Malone. Notably, LeBron and Kareem Abdul-Jabbar are the only players to secure multiple regular season MVPs with two different teams, with LeBron earning two with the Cleveland Cavaliers and two with the Miami Heat.
