The dream of every golfer is to compete in the Ryder Cup one day. However, for most, that dream remains unfulfilled. Only the best manage to secure their place in the team and realize their dream. Even when you are in excellent form and things are going perfectly for you, there is no guarantee that you will receive an invitation.

Keegan Bradley is seen by many as confirmation of this.

The 37-year-old golfer expected to play in the Ryder Cup last year in Rome but failed in his attempt. Netflix's documentary, Full Swing, has revealed much that we didn't know, and now we have the opportunity to see events from the golf world from a completely different perspective, behind the scenes.

Full Swing Season 2 featured a conversation between the captain of the US team, Zach Johnson, and Keegan Bradley, who awaited the captain's call. Bradley hoped for the best. However, right from the start of the conversation, he could feel that he would not be one of those competing in the Ryder Cup.

"Hey buddy. Thanks for being patient with me. There’s no easy way to say this my friend, I find it best to just go in a different direction this year," -Bradley received the disappointing message from Johnson, as reported by golfmonthly.com

"It’s nothing you did or didn’t do because you’re amazing on and off the course I just feel like it's best this year to go in a different direction. I would love to take 30 guys and I cannot. And just know that I am so grateful for you."- Johnson continued.

Zach Johnson had a huge responsibility as the captain of the US Team

It's certain that Zach Johnson didn't have an easy task in that moment. Informing a golfer who was hoping for an invitation to a major competition that he won't be participating is a difficult task. Nevertheless, being a captain carries a certain responsibility.

Johnson was aware that Bradley was an individual who could contribute to the team, but on the other hand, he had to omit someone from the list he had prioritized.

"It’s nothing you did or didn’t do because you’re amazing on and off the course I just feel like it's best this year to go in a different direction. I would love to take 30 guys and I cannot. And just know that I am so grateful for you."- Johnson said.

Even though he was visibly disappointed, Bradley knew he had no other option but to accept things as they were. Despite everything, Bradley wished the team good luck and hoped they could achieve success.

"OK Zach, I understand. Wishing you obviously good luck and hope that you guys go over there and win it."

Johnson expressed his gratitude, concluding, "Thank you, Keegs, I appreciate you, buddy."

“My heart is beating fast"- Johnson added.

Keegan Bradley on emotions after receiving news and desire for US Team success

Keegan Bradley, who talked about how tough it was to get that call, is later shown telling his son to cheer louder for the team, bouncing back from the disappointment.

In the Full Swing documentary, Bradley talks about the mix of feelings he had, feeling both angry and sad. He mentions how hard it is to pick the team because all the players are so good. Wearing a Ryder Cup hat, he says how much he loves his teammates and wants to be part of the team for the positive vibes. Playing in the Ryder Cup has always been reserved for the very best. Being part of such a competition, with the potential to win the trophy, is the reason why every boy dreams of it when they start playing this sport.

Bradley also talks about how much he looks up to Justin Thomas,  praising his hard work in practice. He says if he were the captain, he'd want someone like Thomas on the team.

Justin Thomas has made a significant impact on the golf scene and intends to continue doing so in the future.

The US team started their Ryder Cup adventure in a disappointing manner, and from the first day, it was evident that their journey to Rome could end unsuccessfully. The Europeans showed character, displaying a strong desire, and ultimately succeeded in bringing victory to Europe. We witnessed a remarkable Ryder Cup with many impressive moves and high-quality golfers. The US team aims to recover from this defeat and seek revenge against the Europeans at Bethpage Black next year. It will be a hard task, but the US team possesses the quality to prove themselves in the upcoming year.
