To conquer the Green Jacket and complete the Grand Slam, Rory McIlroy has changed his usual Masters preparation routine. The Northern Irishman, ranked 2nd in the world, will not play in the traditional Par 3 Contest that precedes the Augusta show.

After nine failed attempts (he has been trying to break this taboo since April 2015), he will try to realize the Grand Slam dream, emulating Gene Sarazen, Ben Hogan, Gary Player, Jack Nicklaus, and Tiger Woods.

In the 16th Masters of his career, he has achieved seven Top 10 finishes so far, including a second place in 2022. Only 60th in 2023, McIlroy is coming off a 3rd place in the Texas Open (PGA Tour). To win the Masters, he has entrusted himself to swing guru Butch Harmon.

Moreover, McIlroy has not won a Major since July 2014 (The Open). Rory McIlroy, born on May 4, 1989, in Holywood, Northern Ireland, is a professional golfer. A prodigy, he quickly gained attention for his golfing talents, initially as an amateur.

He won the Junior Ryder Cup in 2004, participated in the Walker Cup in 2007, represented Ireland at the Eisenhower Trophy in 2006, and won five tournaments, including the European Amateur Championship in 2006 (as well as the European Amateur Team Championship in 2007).

He turned professional in September 2007 at the age of 18. He claimed his first victory on the European PGA Tour at the Dubai Desert Classic in February 2009, and his first victory on the American circuit the following year at the Quail Hollow Championship.

After finishing third in two major tournaments, the 2009 PGA Championship and the 2010 Masters, he won his first major title at the 2011 US Open. Rory McIlroy first became the world number one on March 4, 2012, at the age of 22, 43 days after winning the Honda Classic, a PGA Tour event in Palm Beach Gardens.

On August 12, 2012, he became the first Northern Irishman in history to win the PGA Championship. He is also the first Briton to win this title since Tommy Armour in 1930. In 2014, he won his third major tournament by claiming victory at The Open Championship, followed by a fourth at the PGA Championship.

In the same year, he won the Ryder Cup for the second consecutive time, representing the European team against the United States.
