An uncommon 'albatross' (-3) on the 17th hole (a par 5 covered in just two strokes), seven birdies, and a bogey marked Jones' impressive round. At 27 years old, this is his first season on the DP World Tour (formerly the European Tour).

He arrived in Belgium after missing four cuts in his last five tournaments. While his 62 isn't a record at Rinkven International, his 'albatross' is the first of the season on the Tour. It came on the 17th hole, the penultimate of his round, a 520-meter hole typically played in five shots.

"At first, I was aiming to do it in three shots. I was thinking of hitting three irons off the tee, but I used a wood and struck it very well. (after the first shot) There were 248 meters left to the flag, and I told my caddie Keith that the three wood was perfect, and I encountered a little breeze.

I was doing well up to that point on the course, and I thought that if I made a bogey, it wouldn't be a big deal. I just hit it, asked for it to be good in the air, and it was. It's my first albatross, not a bad place to do it," Jones commented, as provided by the organization.

Two strokes behind the New Zealander, there is a quintet of players, including Nacho Elvira (with seven birdies), Englishmen Matthew Jordan and Andrew Wilson, Frenchman Romain Langasque, and Dane Niklas Norgaard. Among the other Spaniards, Ángel Hidalgo and Alejandro del Rey also performed well, carding 67 each, Adrián Otaegui scored 68, Adri Arnaus and Manuel Elvira finished with 69. These are all the results at Soudal Open, part of the DP World Tour.
