The handling of golf bag cases by airport staff at San Diego Airport has come under fire after a group of students witnessed their bags being treated with apparent disregard. The bags were thrown to the ground as if they were ordinary luggage, much to the dismay of the students, who captured the incident on their smartphones.

The incident, which occurred at San Diego Airport, coincided with the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) 2024 golf championship finals. Among the finalists were members of the East Tennessee State Men’s University golf team, eagerly anticipating a memorable experience.

However, their excitement quickly turned to disbelief as they watched from the airplane window during disembarkation. While awaiting transfer, the students observed airport personnel handling luggage in a less-than-careful manner, stacking bags haphazardly onto carts bound for the terminal.

The group of young golfers was taken aback when their golf bag cases were handled particularly roughly: an individual grabbed them from the belly of the aircraft and proceeded to hurl them onto the ground, one on top of the other, seemingly unconcerned.

This behavior was captured in a video promptly shared online, where at least three bags can be seen tumbling over. A caption on the ETSU Team's social media account read, "Nice to see how Delta handles our bags with care." The power of social media propelled the video across platforms, prompting Delta Airlines to issue a response.

"We apologize to the ETSU golf team and request a mulligan regarding the handling of their equipment," the airline stated. Fortunately for Delta, it seems that the golf clubs and equipment remained intact despite the rough treatment.

The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are applied outdoors, close to nature and animals. Respect for the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on the self-control and free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, consciously at times, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to non-compliance on the part of many players of the game rules.

In addition to rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the round with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
