OnePlus, a global mobile phone company, and British professional golfer Luke Willett have joined forces to set a new world record for the fastest 18-hole round of golf, with a recorded time of 36 minutes and 04 seconds. The record-breaking round was played as part of a larger tournament, where Willett competed in two rounds of 18 holes against other professional Speed Golfers from around the world.

His strategy to maintain such speed and agility on the course was to reduce his golf club selection to just one.

One Pluse, record

"I am thrilled about the world record I have set today and adding another Speed-Golfing accolade to my resume," said Willett.

This new record, achieved at the Horton Smith golf course, was witnessed and officially recognized by the International Speed Golf Association (ISGA), who served as the official timekeeper and used both a doubly certified scorecard and video for time verification.

It's worth noting that prior to this new record, Willett already held the World Record for the fastest 9-hole round of golf, with a time of 20 minutes and 12 seconds in November 2023. "When we learned about Luke's existence and his ambitions, we applied our 'community first' mindset to support him in his challenge.

His passion for the sport, his drive for improvement, and his achievements perfectly embody our brand's mantra: 'Never Settle' That's why, true to our brand, we decided to sponsor one of our community members, Luke Willett, to achieve the world record, as we believe he personifies our motto.

Congratulations to Luke for adding another new world record to his collection!" said Celina Shi, Marketing Director of OnePlus in Europe. The rules of golf are relatively complicated compared to other sports because they are applied outdoors, close to nature and animals.

Respect for the rules is a basic element in the game of golf, which, almost always based on the self-control and free conscience of the players, often sees distorted results, consciously at times, but often unconsciously or through carelessness, due to non-compliance on the part of many players of the game rules.

In addition to rules, golf adheres to a code of conduct, known as etiquette, which generally means playing the round with due respect for the golf course and other players. Etiquette is an essential component of this sport.
