Robert MacIntyre achieved his greatest wish by winning his first PGA Tour title, triumphing at the RBC Canadian Open. Interestingly, his caddie is actually his father Dougie, who had to step in as a caddie due to unforeseen circumstances, even though he doesn't have particularly vast experience in that role. MacIntyre won by finishing on 16 under par.

The Scot highlighted that he laughed and cried after the tournament, as he never expected such an outcome. He emphasized that his father was a significant figure in this success, as he encouraged him even when things seemed to be going in the wrong direction.

"I'm crying with joy, but I'm laughing because I didn't think it was possible," said MacIntyre, as quoted by BBC.

"I was going down the last and my dad's trying to tell me to stay focused and swing smooth because [on Saturday] I got a little bit too fast, but in my head I wasn't listening to him."

MacIntyre is a golfer with no experience playing major tournaments. He emphasized that this victory is for his father, who has been a huge support since the beginning of his career. The Scot dedicated the win to everyone close to him: family, girlfriend, and team. Such a victory will be crucial for him in facing future challenges, considering that MacIntyre hasn't particularly excelled until now.

"I wanted to win this for my dad. This is the guy who has taught me the game of golf and I just can't believe I have done this with him on the bag.

This is just everything for me and family, my girlfriend, my team."-he continued.

American Ben Griffin came close to victory, but MacIntyre showed an extra quality when it was needed most. Also impressive were Perez, Kim, and McIlroy. However, it wasn't enough for something more.

MacIntyre senior expressed disbelief, stressing his usual profession as a grasscutter, not a caddie. He recounted how just the previous Saturday, he was contemplating leaving his job, feeling occupied with work. However, the next morning at eight o'clock, he found himself on a flight to the tournament, which left him stunned.

Few expected that the two of them would form a winning combination to conquer this tournament, especially considering the presence of such big names. However, the MacIntyre family can take pride in this duo, who have shown that with teamwork, motivation, and dedication, anything is possible. His father appears to be the most shocked, as he did not anticipate this turn of events. It will be interesting to see if the two of them will team up again in the future and continue their winning streak.

What does this kind of victory bring to MacIntyre?

After this victory, the 27-year-old will have a significantly easier time ahead. Primarily, this will be of great importance to him in terms of FedEx Cup points, as he has earned 500 of them. With this brilliant win, the Scot has pocketed $1,700,000, which is absolutely crucial from a financial standpoint and can greatly ease his future. Following this triumph, MacIntyre will have a 2-year exemption and will be able to compete on the PGA Tour in 2025 and 2026.

The Scot will also be competing in the US Open. Without this victory, he would have had to go through qualifiers. There are many more benefits for the 27-year-old, whom few expected to achieve such success.

Robert MacIntyre's previous statement: The Scot did not seem happy with the atmosphere on the PGA Tour

Although his start on the PGA Tour wasn't spectacular, MacIntyre has turned things in his favor, and this victory is more than important for him. The young golfer had previously spoken about the challenges of playing on the PGA Tour, considering the vast difference between competing on the European Tour and the PGA Tour. Many golfers have trouble getting used to the PGA Tour.

He drew parallels between these two Tours, believing the PGA Tour atmosphere to be much more individually focused, while on the DP World Tour, MacIntyre felt people were friendlier and less inclined to view their opponents as adversaries. Of course, experience will be necessary for the Scot, and we have no doubt that he will improve year by year.

His focus is already on the upcoming challenges, and there will be many. When you achieve such an important victory at a prestigious tournament, it gives you extra motivation for what lies ahead. This kind of victory was truly needed for MacIntyre, especially considering a sense of dissatisfaction could be felt in his previous statements. Now, his mindset should be different. MacIntyre has realized that he can compete with some of the best golfers.
