As one of the key figures behind Europe's victories in 2002, 2004, and 2006, the 57-year-old from Dublin, who served twice as vice-captain, has been part of the Ryder Cup advisory committee since 2019.

"It is true that we have built a strong model for winning the Ryder Cup at home, but my job now will be to help Donald, his vice-captains, and the team approach the away challenge against the USA in a different way than before," said McGinley.
