The Bizkaia PGAe Open golf tournament, which will hold its third edition from June 21st to 23rd at Meaztegi Golf, continues to break records and enhance its reputation, aiming to host a future Ryder Cup. Established as a prominent event on the TUMI Spain Golf Tour circuit, two-time Masters champion José María Olazábal (1994 and 1999) will once again grace the Meaztegi Golf public course: a stunning design by his late friend Seve Ballesteros, who passed away 13 years ago.

Bizkaia PGAe Open, news

The Basque master boasts 19 victories on the European circuit, 5 on the American PGA Tour (including two Grand Slams), and 4 elsewhere around the globe. Olazábal leads a legion of winners from tournaments worldwide, accumulating a total of 35 titles among them: Álvaro Quirós (8 in the DPWT); Senior Tour winners like José Manuel Carriles (1 Senior and 2 Challenge), Luis Claverie, and Rafa Benítez (European Senior Golf Tour); Challenge Tour champions such as Carlos Suneson (6), Álvaro Velasco (3), Jesús María Arruti (2), Emilio Cuartero (1), Toño Hortal (1), Pedro Oriol (1), Pep Anglés (1), and Borja Virto (1).

Additionally, there are triumphs on the Alps Tour by José Manuel Pardo (1) or Manuel Morugán (1). Moreover, there are winners across the globe like José Luis Adarraga on the French Tour; Carlos Pigem on the Asian Tour, Samu del Val on the PGA Tour Latinoamérica; and Mario Galiano with a victory on the Gecko Tour, as well as an Individual Gold Medal at the 2018 Mediterranean Games.

Also in attendance will be the tournament's last two winners, Asier Aguirre and Borja Martín, alongside Olazábal's accomplished student Borja Martín, who shares the stage with his nephew Joseba Torres.

Jon Rahm's brother, Eriz, will not miss the event at Meaztegi. Borja Virto and David Borda, winners of this year's XX Dobles de Izki, and Alfonso Buendía, victor of the emotional tournament in Ciudad Real, will also participate.

The last two Order of Merit winners, Jacobo Pastor (2023) and Alex Esmatges (2022 and 2021), will be present as well. José Manuel Pardo and Jorge García de la Osada are the two winners of the Sub-25 Award granted by the San Pablo Group to young promises.

Furthermore, we highlight the presence of Colombians Iván Ramírez and Felipe Álvarez, as well as Portuguese players Alexandre Abreu and Pedro Almeida.
