The Ladies Italian Open has commenced at Golf Nazionale in Sutri, Viterbo, marking the 27th edition of Italy's premier women's golf event (June 14-16).

The Ladies Italian Open has commenced at Golf Nazionale in Sutri, Viterbo, marking the 27th edition of Italy's premier women's golf event (June 14-16). This tournament holds significant importance as the penultimate qualifying event for the Paris Olympic Games.

Supported by the Lazio Region and with the official advisory of Infront Italy, the competition features 132 players, including ten Italians, representing 32 nations, with four players ranked in the top ten of the Order of Merit and eleven in the top twenty.

Preceding the tournament was the Lazio Region Pro-Am, won by Czech player Sara Kouskova's team with an impressive score of "minus 21". Notable participants included amateur golfers Massimo Tempesta and Francesco Caporali.

The event also featured prominent figures such as Austrian Emma Spitz and the Virgin Islands' Alexandra Swayne. The competition is expected to be fierce, with top contenders including Swiss player Chiara Tamburlini, Singaporean Shannon Tan, Danish Nicole Broch Estrup, and Englishwoman Gabriella Cowley.

The field also features favorites like South African Lee-Anne Pace and Dutch player Anne Van Dam. Ten Italian players are participating, led by Alessandra Fanali and Virginia Elena Carta, both regulars on the Ladies European Tour.

The tournament spans 54 holes with a cut after 36, allowing the top 60 players to continue competing for a prize pool of €300,000. Golf Nazionale in Sutri hosts this event for the first time, adding to its illustrious history of hosting major golf tournaments.

The event is also partnered with Komen Italia, highlighting breast cancer awareness through various initiatives during the tournament. The Ladies Italian Open Golf tournament is a prestigious event on the Ladies European Tour calendar.

Held annually, it attracts top female golfers from around the world to compete for the title. The tournament serves as a crucial opportunity for players to earn points towards qualification for major championships and other prestigious events, including the Olympic Games.
