Francesco Molinari, it's a second missed cut

After three top ten, second consecutive missed cut for Francesco Molinari. Both tournaments played in Florida cost dear to our standard bearer.

Francesco Molinari, The Players

Round two of The Players Championship continued to put on a show.

In Ponte Vedra Beach, in the PGA Tour tournament considered by many as a "fifth Major", which is giving away a prize pool of $ 15,000,000, in addition to Molinari, Rory McIlroy did not pass the cut. Molinari, with a total of 147 (76 71, +3), was unable to break the pass for the weekend despite a closed par test in 71 (-1) with 4 birdies and 3 bogeys.

Starting with three birdies in the first six holes, Molinari scored a heavy bogey caused by three putts. At that moment something in the game got jammed. Despite the excellent game from tee to green, our standard bearer did not materialize.

Thus, after winning the tournament in 2019 (in 2020 the event was canceled at the end of the first round due to the health emergency) he was eliminated. Golf Amateurs Open, an international event organized by the Wegolfers group, takes place in two this year.

In fact, the tournament in Rome will be played in June and the Milan tournament in August. The Golf Amateurs Open was born by picking up the baton from another international competition organized by Nextgolf (owner of the Wegolfers brand) between 2008 and 2019.

This is the GIFT, an event that had involved many players from all over Europe and was held in courses of high level, among these Golf dei Laghi, San Vigilio, Arzaga, Monticello (six editions), Duchy of Parma and Alpino di Stresa.

Wegolfers' experience with the World Amateur Golfers Championship led to the idea of developing an event with an international flair. The genesis is linked to a dream: to one day bring the WAGC World Final to Italy.

The Golf Amateurs Open is designed as a multi-day event, with multiple courses involved and many collateral activities. Wegolfers has imagined to realize the two tournaments in partnership with other agencies organizing golf events.

Partner with whom to share the success of an event that aims to become a point of reference in the world of Italian and international golf. Unfortunately, the health situation of this period forced the organizers to temporarily reduce ambitions, limiting activities.

The project provides for the possibility of increasing the number of events and progressively growing through the participation of players from all over the world.
