Ana Ivanovic retired from professional tennis in late 2016 at 29 year-old. She has been Serbia's official ambassador for UNICEF since 2007. On 12 July 2016 Ana got married in Venice with soccer player Bastian Schweinsteiger.

The couple had two children: Luka and Stefan. In her career she has won fifteen WTA singles tournaments, including Roland Garros in 2008. In the Grand Slam tournaments she reached another final in Paris in 2007 and at the Australian Open in 2008.

She has also been world number one since 9 June. to 10 August 2008 and then from 18 August to 7 September of the same year, for a total of twelve weeks. After a period of poor results she returned to success in 2014, winning 56 games in all and returning to the top ten tennis players in the world six years after the last time.

Growing up in the Yugoslavia of the wars of the 1990s, her tennis training had to face difficulties including the NATO bombings in 1999, to avoid which she was forced to train in the early morning, or the lack of winter facilities, outdated, as she herself has told in an interview, playing in an abandoned pool filled with earth.

Ana Ivanovic's will to emerge is testified by Martina Navratilova's story, which revealed when Ana, lost her first tournament, cried for four hours in the locker room for fear that her financing manager might abandon her, judging her not good enough to become a professional.

At the Roland Garros 2008, Ana beats countrywoman Jelena Jankovic 6-4, 3-6, 6-4 in the semifinals, winning her second consecutive final, and with the points acquired, together with the eliminations suffered by Kuznecova and Sharapova, to just twenty years old she is the first Serbian and the seventh youngest tennis player to become number 1 in the WTA ranking.

Confirmation that her position reached by her is deserved comes two days later, when Ana wins the Roland Garros, her first Grand Slam title, beating Dinara Safina 6-4 6-3 in the final. Over the years Ana has also been an icon of style and beauty, as well as of fashion.
