Vallverdu on Dimitrov

It is not a particularly happy period for Grigor Dimitrov, who has recently found himself dealing with various physical problems.

The Bulgarian was forced to retire first in Indian Wells and Barcelona without even taking the field against De Minaur. In Rome he was eliminated by Novak Djokovic. Net of these last headaches, however, his coach Daniel Vallverdu is convinced that his pupil, physically and mentally, would still be able to play for up to eight years: "The other day he commented that he sees himself playing for another 6 -8 years.

Physically and mentally, Grigor should be ready to play as many years as he wants, as long as he stays motivated. He is physically privileged, I see him in a good situation to play for many years to come." Daniel Vallverdu is undoubtedly a coach who knows how to do his job and also very well.

Many of him have benefited from his wise advice, such as Andy Murray, who with the Venezuelan at his mentoring won his first Olympic gold medal in 2012 and two of his three Grand Slam titles (US Open 2012 and Wimbledon 2013).

Among others, Grigor Dimitrov sowed well and reaped a lot with Vallverdu. Since the beginning of their collaboration, which began in 2016, the two have achieved an extraordinary ride that led the Bulgarian tennis player to win his first Masters 1000 in Cincinnati in 2017 and, in the same year, the Nitto ATP Finals , pushing himself up to the third position in the world rankings.

Their working relationship was then interrupted in 2019, except to mend just a few months ago, in December 2022: "Now I know him much better, it's a different relationship because we didn't start from scratch. We started three months ago, I'm trying to help him to find that consistency, even if there is still a lot of work to do.

The goal is to find consistency in the results and try to win tournaments again."
