Bouchard: "I would have started having children, if..."

Eugenie Bouchard, after almost a year and a half away from the circuit due to a shoulder injury, has recently returned to playing top tournaments on a regular basis.

Despite the lack of results over the last few years, the former world number 5, now slipped to 292nd in the WTA rankings, therefore wants to make up for it under her. The 29-year-old has competed in three tournaments this year, qualifying for the round of 16 of the Copa Colsanitas WTA 250 tournament, after exiting the ASB Classic and Australian Open, still in qualifying.

Bouchard also played in Madrid and Rome to prepare for the Master 1000 tournament on clay. In a recent interview, Genie said: "Of course I still see myself fighting for a title. I wouldn't have put all this time and effort into coming back if I didn't believe in it anymore.

Coming back from an injury takes a lot of patience, a lot of time and energy. I do it because I think I'm still able to get back to the top, if I didn't believe it I would have concentrated on other things, having children or whatever.

Getting back to playing was a very long process and I thought if it was really worth it. In the end I decided yes because I would have regretted if I had ended my career due to an injury. Now I am more motivated than ever to come back."
