Garbine Muguruza: "Tennis is not a priority"

In an interview with Women's Health, Garbine Muguruza talked about how she has lived these last few months without tennis.

She told: "Today I don't feel like I want to go back to competition. I want to rest, be with my family and make up for lost time. I don't go beyond what I'm doing today, in the present, and I don't look beyond. My body and my mind needed this.

By not competing I still keep fit, without always having to push myself to the limit. I go to the gym regularly, I love weight training, I do zumba, pilates, yoga, boxing. I take this opportunity to give it a chance to those things that I couldn't give a chance to when I was on the circuit.

Tennis has no place in my routine. I am aware of my teammates, maybe I can play sometimes but for pure fun, without intensity. It doesn't occupy my mind, my routine or my day, I'm taking a real break and keeping myself completely off the court."

From February, in the 2023 season, Garbine Muguruza decided to take a temporary break from the WTA circuit due to the less than exciting results achieved in the previous year. However, the Spanish player does not seem willing to return to playing official tournaments in a short time, perhaps at the beginning of 2024.
