Vera Lapko started playing tennis at age 5. She likes calm music, watching men's tennis and football. A fan of Liverpool. In juniors, she won the girls' singles title at the 2016 Australian Open (d. doubles partner Mihalikova) and finished as a runner-up in in doubles (both w/Mihalikova) at Wimbledon (2015) and US Open (2014).

She played her first matches on ITF Circuit in 2014, qualifying at $10k tournament in Antalya and reaching the semifinals at $25k tournament in Minsk. She won the first ITF Circuit title in 2015 at $10k ITF event in Sharm El Sheik (d. Vondrousova).

In 2016 she was doubles runner‐up at WTA tournament at Guangzhou (w/Govortsova, l. Muhammad/Peng). In 2017 she was part of the Belarus Fed Cup team that has advanced to maiden final, against USA in Minsk this November. She recorded a 1‐1 record in two doubles rubbers with Govortsova, defeating Burger/Rus vs. Netherlands (first round) and losing to Bencic/Hingis vs. Switzerland (semifinals).

In 2017 she claimed her maiden WTA quarter in Moscow (l. to Begu) and won two ITF singles titles in Clermont‐Ferrand (d. Schoofs) and Landisville (d. Schmiedlova).
