Dalila Jakupovic began playing at age six. She contested WTA qualifying for the first time at 2011 Copenhagen and made her WTA main draw debut at 2014 Monterrey (as qualifier, l. Kumkhum).
In 2012 she won her first ITF title in Aurangabad (d. Plipuech), where she got a second triumph in 2015 (d. Xinyun Han). Part of Slovenian Fed Cup team in 2014 and 2017, she won two ITF titles in 2016 in Turin and Hechingen, claiming her first two $25k titles.
She finished 2017 season ranked No.239, her fourth non-consecutive Top 300 season, and No.89 in doubles for career first Top 100 doubles season. The season was highlighted by runner-up finish at WTA $125k Series event in Mumbai (l. Sabalenka). She also reached the second-round at two tour-level events in 2017, at Taipei City (as qualifier, l. Stosur) and Bogota (l. Schiavone) and played three WTA doubles finals, lifting her career first WTA doubles trophy at Istanbul (w/Kichenok, d. Melichar/Mertens). She also finished as runner-up in Monterrey (w/Kichenok, l. Hibino/Rosolska) and Tianjin (w/Stojanovic, l. Begu/Errani).
