Tennis - Former top 10 player Gael Monfils has won the ATP Challenger in Bordeaux, beating his countryman Michael Llodra in the finals. Monfils, who took a wild card into this event, has dropped out of the top 100 in the world rankings defeated the 32 year old Llodra 7-5, 7-6.
Monfils has decided to step down to the Challenger circuit this week in order to regain some confidence. He has received a wild card for the French Open next week but will need another wild card or to come through the qualifying draw at Wimbledon after an injury plagued 2012 season.
Meanwhile, at the ATP Challenger in Busan, Israel's Dudi Sela, seeded no. 3, defeated fourth seeded Russian Alex Bogomolov Jr. 6-1 6-4 and at the ATP Samarkand Challenger, second seeded Russian Teymuraz Gabashvili defeated third seeded Ukranian Oleksandr Nedovyesov 6-3 6-4.
