Belgian tennis star David Goffin has married his long-time partner Stephanie Tuccitto. Goffin, a former world No. 7, has been together with Tuccitto since 2012 and this week they officially tied the knot. Goffin was planning to get married in 2020 but the coronavirus pandemic postponed his plans.
Unfortunately for Goffin, his 2021 season was cut short as he put an end to his year following his US Open exit. However, Goffin used his time off the court to get married.
Goffin had a tough 2021 season
Goffin had been plagued by a knee injury throughout the whole 2021 season and he saw no point in continuing his season.
"Hi guys, I wanted to tell you that I am ending my 2021 season," Goffin announced on Instagram two weeks ago. "I have had knee pain for a long time and I need time to heal properly. I would like to fully recover from all the injuries I have had lately to come back stronger next year.
I apologize to all the tournaments and fans but I will see you in 2022!" Following a two-month break -- Goffin returned to action at the Cincinnati Masters -- where he easily lost to Guido Pella in his opener. "Now you have to trust the rebuilding process.
I did not expect to win every game directly on my return. It is never obvious when you come back from an injury, especially in the ankle, there is always apprehension," Goffin said after the Pella loss. "It was a difficult match already at the start, a comeback match, the first day, on center court.
Overall, he was better all over the place. I had some good spells, but he was very served well the whole match. I had difficulty returning well, it is a point to work on. He moves very well, he is solid, I committed a lot of unforced errors and it costs me the game."
