Dominic Thiem shares update to his fans

Dominic Thiem took to Twitter to share an update to his fans, revealing that he used the past weekend to spend some time on a practice court and at Lake Neusiedl. Thiem, who sustained a wrist injury at the Mallorca Open in 2021 June, made his long-awaited comeback in late March.

Thiem, the 2020 US Open champion, hasn't had an easy comeback so far as he is 0-7 since returning to action. "Hey guys! It’s been a while! I spent my last days on the one hand, at Lake Neusiedl and on the other hand on the tennis court," Thiem tweeted.

"Lake Neusiedl is a great place to recharge and I love the amazing nature."

Thiem focused on adding more strength to his shots

"My training sessions have mainly focused on completing an immense number of tennis strokes daily. Those days were very good for me, powered the energy and progress in training!

Those steps are really important for my process!"

At the French Open, Thiem suffered a devastating straight-set defeat versus Hugo Dellien. Thiem, a two-time French Open finalist who was once considered as the best clay court player along with Rafael Nadal.

was visibly disappointed after his Roland Garros exit. After the loss, Thiem admitted his shots and game in overall weren't good enough. "There's not enough power in my shots yet. The first serve doesn't earn enough. Sometimes I make stupid decisions in the rallies, like dropshots.

It's gonna take time until it's fine again," Thiem explained. "I'm not doing anything different in training sessions than before. I started to have it very consistant 6 or 7 weeks ago. I just have to be patient. It's gonna take a few more months until I can really say : OK I can beat those guys again." Where will Thiem play next remains to be seen as in Paris he hinted he might return to the Challenger Tour.
