Nick Kyrgios, Stefanos Tsitsipas accept wildcards into Mallorca

Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios and sixth-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas have accepted wildcards into Mallorca. Kyrgios, 27, is set to make his debut on the grass courts of Mallorca.

Kyrgios kicked off his grass season last week in Stuttgart and now he has reached the Halle semifinal.

Kyrgios will have played in every week of the grass season leading up to Wimbledon and he definitely won't be lacking matches when he arrives at The All England Club. On the other side, 23-year-old Tsitsipas is also set to debut in Mallorca.

Like Kyrgios, Tsitsipas kicked off his grass season in Stuttgart and then also competed in Halle. In Halle, Tsitsipas reached the last-16, before he was beaten by Kyrgios in a three-set battle. Kyrgios, who absolutely loves playing on grass, handed Tsitsipas a 5-7 6-2 6-4 loss.

Kyrgios on beating Tsitsipas

“Stef is one of the best players in the world at the moment and he’s going to have some amazing results and I’m sure many, many Grand Slams,” Kyrgios said after the win.

“I don’t know if I can say the same for me, but I’m happy to still be able to produce this level with the tournaments I play. It is a testament to how hard I do work when I’m not playing. I’m just super excited to move on as well, I want to keep having these big wins on the best courts in the world”.

It was the fourth meeting between Kyrgios and Tsitsipas. Kyrgios, a six-time ATP champion, now has a 3-1 head-to-head versus Tsitsipas. Kyrgios defeated Tsitsipas in the first two meetings, before the Greek defeated the Australian at the Laver Cup last year.

Following his victory over Tsitsipas in Halle, Kyrgios now owns a 3-1 head-to-head versus the Greek. It will be interesting to see if Kyrgios and Tsitsipas will meet again next week in Mallorca.
