Stefanos Tsitsipas reacts to making his first grass final in Mallorca

Second-seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas said he was happy with his performance in the Mallorca semifinal as he is hoping to win his first grass title this Saturday. On Friday, Tsitsipas saw off France's Benjamin Bonzi 6-4 6-4 to progress into his first grass final in Mallorca.

In the Mallorca final, Tsitsipas faces home favorite Roberto Bautista Agut. “It was a good match. I am very happy today,” Tsitsipas said in his on-court interview, per the ATP website. “I have played a final a week before a Grand Slam before.

It was the year I made the final at Roland Garros, in Lyon. It worked out pretty well to have that final and consistency of matches. It is different this time. We are talking about a different surface, so we will see”.

Tsitsipas overcame Bonzi in straight sets

Tsitsipas faced pressure in the fourth game but managed to save three break points and level the set to two games apiece.

After saving three break points, Tsitsipas earned the first break of the match in the ninth game to open a 5-4 lead. In the 10th game, Tsitsipas routinely served out for the first set. After winning the first set, Tsitsipas claimed the first break of the second set in the third game to take a 2-1 lead.

Tsitsipas then held on to his serve the rest of the match to complete a straight-set win. Now, Tsitsipas is set to clash Spain's Bautista Agut. Tsitsipas and Bautista Agut will be going head-to-head for the third time in their respective careers when they meet in Mallorca.

When Tsitsipas and Bautista Agut met for the first time at the 2019 Australian Open, Tsitsipas earned a four-set win. Last year at the ATP Cup, Tsitsipas overcame Bautista Agut in straight sets. When Tsitsipas faces Bautista Agut again, he will be looking to keep his perfect record versus the Spaniard and lift his maiden grass title.
