Rod Laver, Margaret Court give their verdict on if can Nick Kyrgios win Wimbledon

Australian tennis legends Rod Laver and Margaret Court both agree that Nick Kyrgios "certainly has the talent" to win Wimbledon but both admit they are not sure if the 27-year-old can keep himself in the right mental space for two weeks straight.

Laver, a former 11-time Grand Slam champion, is a true icon at Wimbledon, having won the tournament five times. Court, a record 24-time Grand Slam champion, captured three Wimbledon titles during her career. John Newcombe, another Australian legend that is currently at The All England Club, also won three Wimbledon titles during his career.

Now, the Australians are hoping Kyrgios brings them a Wimbledon trophy. At Wimbledon, Laver, Court and Newcombe were asked about Kyrgios' title chances at The Championships. "He certainly has the talent. I just wonder if he keeps his head together," Laver said.

"He has got the talent to beat everybody, really. And you never know what it is gonna do," Court added.

Kyrgios making a strong progress at Wimbledon

In the Wimbledon third round, Kyrgios beat fifth-ranked Stefanos Tsitsipas 6-7 (2) 6-4 6-3 7-6 (7).

Kyrgios isn't lacking confidence any confidence in himself at Wimbledon as he said at the start of the tournament that this year he has made some top-10 players "look pretty ordinary." “I’ve played top-10 players in the world this year and made them look pretty ordinary.

I know where my game’s at. I know if I’m feeling confident, I’m playing well, I’m able to just light it up kind of whenever I want. Do I feel I can beat anybody in the draw on my day? Yeah. Good sleep, good rest.

I think that’s one. Make sure your body’s in good Nick,” Kyrgios said. Kyrgios has a pretty favorable round-of-16 matchup as he plays next Brandon Nakashima. Kyrgios could potentially meet Rafael Nadal in the Wimbledon semifinal and that match would certainly draw lots of interest. It remains to be seen how far can Kyrgios go at Wimbledon this fortnight.
