Tracy Austin offers high praise for Stan Wawrinka

Former two-time Grand Slam champion Tracy Austin thinks Stan Wawrinka has the best one-handed backhand down the line in tennis history. During an appearance on Tennis Channel, Austin was asked to give her top-3 three players with the best one-handed backhand in the men's game.

The host told Austin that Roger Federer was excluded from the contention because he hasn't played in a while. "I was so indecisive about this that I changed this about 72 times," Austin said on Tennis Channel.

"I'm going with Wawrinka and I know he's not in the top 100 but when you win 3 Majors and mostly because of your backhand - I think he has the best one-handed backhand down the line ever in the history of the game.

I'm going with him."

Austin picks Dominic Thiem, Lorenzo Musetti after Wawrinka

Austin thinks Thiem is the one with the second best one-handed backhand in the men's game, while she placed Musetti at the third place.

Also, Austin gave a honorable mention to Bulgarian tennis star Grigor Dimitrov. "I'm going with Dominic Thiem. When he is at his best - not at the moment but he is getting there. He can hit that ball on the rise, he can hit the ball with a slice, he can mix it up, variation.

Then I'm going with Musetti, the young gun. Honorable mention - Grigor Dimitrov. I like his slice, he can mix it up," Austin added. During Wawrinka's prime, his one-handed backhand was an absolute nightmare for those across the other side of the net.

When Wawrinka beat Novak Djokovic for his first French Open title in 2015, his backhand clicked perfectly and the Serb had no answer. Wawrinka's backhand has always been a major weapon and it is considered as one of the best one-handed backhands in the history of the game.
