Bernard Tomic has told Nick Kyrgios that it is "just a matter of time" before he meets him on a tennis court. On Wednesday, Kyrgios held a Q&A with fans on Instagram. One fan wanted to know whether Kyrgios was interested in meeting Tomic in an exhibition match.
Kyrgios took a shot at 660th-ranked Tomic, suggesting they're not in the same league. "The exhibition against Tomic going to happen," a fan asked Kyrgios on Instagram. Kyrgios answered: "TBH (to be honest), don't think I wanna make him relevant anymore.
I'm not gonna bother with someone 800 in the world. But all the best."
Tomic responds to Kyrgios
Tomic also held his own Q&A on Instagram. Several fans asked him how he felt about Kyrgios' shot and Kyrgios "doing him dirty" by his comments.
In his response, Tomic suggested that Kyrgios is scared of meeting him. "Just a matter of time I see you, Nicky boy," Tomic wrote on Instagram as his response, along with hashtag words "obsessed" and "scared."
This season, Tomic has been mainly playing on the Challenger and ITF levels. Earlier this month, Tomic captured his first title since 2018 after winning the ITF Cancun. This week, Tomic is again playing at the ITF Cancun, where he has been through to the quarterfinal.
After winning Cancun three weeks ago, Tomic improved about 150 spots on the ATP rankings list. Tomic, a former top-20 player, was asked by one of the fans when we would again see him ranked inside the top-100. "Done it before.
Will do it again," Tomic answered. Tomic, who turns 30 next month, often posts videos from the practice courts. Tomic seems to be fully committed to tennis and he is determined to get back to the tennis that once made him a top-20 player. It remains to be seen if Tomic can rediscover his old game and once again be a top-50 player on the ATP Tour.
