Nick Kyrgios: I'll chill at 12 events

Nick Kyrgios is fine with his selected schedule and there is no indication that he will be making any changes going forward. On Instagram, a Nick Kyrgios fan account posted that only two players ranked ahead of Kyrgios have played fewer tournaments than the Australian.

Those two players are Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. Kyrgios has appeared in just 12 tournaments this season, but still, he is a top-20 player because he usually does well when he plays this year. "Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are the only players who have played fewer tournaments this year and are still better ranked than Nick Kyrgios.

The next player who has played less tournaments than Kygs is ranked 132," the post read. Kyrgios shared the post on his Instagram Story and wrote: "I don't have to play a normal schedule. I'll chill at 12 events."

Rod Laver thinks Kyrgios will be a different player in 2023

Recently, Australian tennis legend Rod Laver gave his thoughts on Kyrgios' defeat to Novak Djokovic in the Wimbledon final.

"Kyrgios has all the ability in the world, every shot that you could wish to make," Laver said of Kyrgios. “He’s probably one of the biggest servers in the game. He’s accurate, he can play under pressure.

I was thrilled that he reached the final, but he didn’t think he could win Wimbledon." Kyrgios didn't win Wimbledon but Laver feels that run has given the Australian the belief and confidence that he really do well at Grand Slams.

"But he knows that he can play and compete now. Don’t walk on the court thinking: ‘If I get three games, that’s enough.’Now he’s thinking: ‘Next year? Wimbledon? You’re going to see a different player," Laver added.

After reaching the Wimbledon final, Kyrgios made the US Open quarterfinal before losing to Karen Khachanov. Kyrgios was visibly disappointed after not winning the US Open as he admitted he felt like he let people down.
