ATP slaps Corentin Moutet, Adrian Andreev with hefty fines following Orleans incident

Corentin Moutet and Adrian Andreev have both been fined €10,000 for their physical altercation at the Orleans Challenger. Last week, Moutet and Andreev got physical at the net following the conclusion of their Orleans round-of-16 match.

Also, the ATP confirmed to Tennis Majors that Moutet was handed an additional €5,000 fine for his off-court actions following their match. Shortly after the match was over, Moutet took to social media, where he provided his version of the story.

Moutet claimed Andreev cussed him out twice and suggested the Bulgarian was afraid to meet him in the locker room.

“I don't want to apologize for what happened late in the game,” Moutet said on social media after the match.

“When a player allows himself to say 'f--- you twice while looking me in the eye, I can't help but make him understand in my own way that these are not things that are done”. On the other side, Andreev claimed it was Moutet that started the provocation.

“During the match I felt really bad. He kept provoking me. In Italy (in their previous meeting), he started talking to me and saying 'what’s your problem?' I didn’t have a problem with him. I beat him, and he told me to f--- off, at the net.

He has a problem with me but I don’t have a problem with him," Andreev explained. The ATP sanctioning Moutet and Andreev was expected. Laurent Raymond, who is Moutet's coach, said last week they were waiting to hear from the ATP.

After reviewing what happened in Orleans, the ATP responded with a hefty fine. Moutet and Andreev were playing against each other in back-to-back weeks. The week earlier, Andreev defeated Moutet at the Genoa Challenger. Then last week, Andreev claimed another victory over Moutet. In both matches, Moutet was up by a set before Moutet stormed back to win in three sets.
