World No 4 Daniil Medvedev admitted that Alex de Minaur delivered a good performance while he failed to capitalize on his chances. Medvedev, who was the fourth-seeded player in the Paris main draw, took on de Minaur after a first-round bye.

In the Paris second round, de Minaur stunned Medvedev 6-4 2-6 7-5. After easily winning the second set, Medvedev also started the third set with a break but failed to capitalize as de Minaur claimed a shock victory. "De Minaur played very well.

He didn't miss much. He did the right choice many times. I had my chances, didn't use them. So credit to him," Medvedev said, per Tennis Majors.

Medvedev on breaking his racket

After de Minaur converted his match, Medvedev smashed his racket in frustration and appeared to exchange some words with the crowd.

Later, Medvedev explained that he didn't feel that chair umpire Nacho Forcadell did a good job. "I was not at all talking to the umpire about the crowd. In my opinion, the crowd was nice, supporting both players, 50/50, always nice.

In my opinion, the umpire didn't do a good match, but I'm not criticizing. It's like, he did a bad match like I can do a bad match, for example. At the end my attitude was not good enough. I can admit it. But in my opinion, he didn't make a good match.

I like Nacho, and I like him as an umpire. I'm talking only about today," Medvedev explained.

Now that his Paris run is finished, Medvedev has just one more tournament left on his schedule - the ATP Finals.

"There's still a very important tournament (ATP Finals), I'm happy to play it. That's tennis. Two people, only one can win. I'll try to do better in Slams next year I think, but I'm happy," Medvedev said.
