Nick Kyrgios and his girlfriend Costeen Hatzi are seemingly enjoying their time in Saudi Arabia. Kyrgios, 27, and Hatzi are in Saudi Arabia for this week's Diriyah Tennis Cup in Riyadh. Kyrgios, the 2022 Wimbledon runner-up, said recently he was looking forward to visiting Saudi Arabia because he is always "curious to go to a new place." Judging by Hatzi's photos from Saudi Arabia, they are definitely enjoying their Saudi experience.
"Calm, conservative & beautiful. This place is unlike anywhere I’ve ever been, it is so special," Hatzi captioned her Instagram post.
Kyrgios on competing at the Diriyah Tennis Cup
The Diriyah Tennis Cup held its inaugural edition in 2019.
In 2020 and 2021, the Diriyah Tennis Cup didn't take place because of the pandemic. Now, the Diriyah Tennis Cup is returning for its second edition. The tournament is featuring some of the biggest name of the game as Daniil Medvedev, Alexander Zverev and Stefanos Tsitsipas are also playing at the tournament.
“I’m very curious to go to a new place. I’ve never been before and I’m going with my girlfriend. We’re very excited to see what it’s about. I’ve got a very close family friend who lives there, and he only speaks very highly about Saudi.
I’m super excited to get there. I’m always looking forward to (playing) these sorts of events. It’s very important for the fans to be involved. Personally, I love going to places where they may not know so much about tennis, to try and draw some attention and get them to enjoy it.
I think that’s important. When I retire from tennis, I want to know that I left a mark and made a lot of new fans of the sport,” Kyrgios said of playing in Riyadh. After the Diriyah Tennis Cup, Kyrgios is also scheduled to play at the World Tennis League in Dubai between 19-24 December.
